Summary[]
Haruhi drags the SOS Brigade around to various summer activities, including swimming in a public pool, going to O-bon festival, playing with fireworks, and bug hunting. Kyon is plagued by an increasing sense of déjà vu as the activities continue.
One night Asahina calls Kyon in a panicked state, asking him to meet her outside the station. Kyon meets up with her, Nagato, and Koizumi, who again explain that the world has been experiencing an endless time loop from August 17 to August 31 because Haruhi feels she still has things she must do during summer vacation. Every one's memories are erased, although those closest to Haruhi have déjà vu of the previous loops. Nagato reveals that this is the 15,532nd loop.
Haruhi closes up the summer activities. Kyon suffers the most intense moment of déjà vu yet, and in a desperate attempt to stop Haruhi from leaving the cafe and again resetting time, he shouts that he still needs to do his homework. He tells all the members to meet at his place to do their homework together. Haruhi berates Kyon for giving orders rather than asking her permission, but wishes to join them in doing homework.
September 1st arrives, leading Kyon to conclude that Haruhi is finally satisfied. Despite there being no SOS Brigade meeting on the first day of the term, he and Koizumi show up to the clubroom and play poker. Koizumi says that because Haruhi is so smart, it probably never occurred to her that homework could be a burden on someone, which is why Kyon had to suggest the study group activity. Kyon feels like the whole repeating summer adventure didn't really happen, which Koizumi says is natural, since they have no memories of any of the loops except the final one. However, Kyon prefers to believe that it was their accumulated actions in the first 15,531 loops, expressed through the déjà vu he felt in the cafe, which allowed him to end the cycle of summer vacation.

Haruhi causes time to reset two weeks, as a consequence removing all future beyond those two weeks. The other members of the SOS Brigade experience remnants of memories from earlier versions of the summer as déjà vu. The Data Integration Thought Entity and the data organisms created by it recall everything from the earlier versions of the summer.

- This episode was the 19th episode broadcast for Season 2, but was the ninth new episode.
- Taking the loop count from this episode, the last episode of Endless Eight and attempting to find that sequence of digits (15532) in the number pi, the result is that the first instance of the sequence occurs on the 74,532nd digit, not including the decimal point. Strangely enough, the last three digits of the loop count and this number match exactly.
- Koizumi's hand is a two-pair consisting of 2s, 7s, and a Jack, which can represent 19, the current episode.
- In this iteration, it is the 595th year of recursion. Adding the digits together sums up to the number 19, which can signify the current episode.
- This episode airs in August, the 8th month of the year, the month the episodes are set, and being the 8th and last episode of the arc.
