Haruhi Wiki:File use policy

This page contains the rules and guidelines that apply to the use of files on Haruhi Wiki.

In short:

1. Obey our copyright policy when uploading files.
2. Use the file description page to describe the file and its copyright licensing.
3. The file description page should also be used to add the file to any file categories.
4. Give file a clear, understandable name, not something like "5872895629.jpg".
5. Before uploading, check if this file had been already uploaded. Duplicate files are not allowed.
6. Upload only files related to the official production (files related to doujin works, AMVs, etc. are not allowed). Every file must have a use in at least one of the wiki's articles.

Also, when uploading an image:

1. Use a correct format - JPG or PNG (in some cases SVG is also allowed).
2. Don't include any watermarks or text in the image
3. (In case of manga) use original manga fragments, not scanlated ones.

File management

Replacing files

To replace file, use the "Replace" link on the file description page.

Renaming files

Files can be renamed, however, only administrators can do that.

Describing files

When uploading a file, don't forget to describe the file on its description page.

Copyright

Don't forget to specify file licensing either in file upload dialog (for images), either by adding appropriate copyright template on the file description page.

Deleting files

1. Remove all uses of the file from articles.
2. Add the {{delete}} template to the file description page. Don't forget to specify reason for deleting.
3. After that, file can be deleted by administrator.
